So far this season has been tremendous with a ton of great baseball being played. As you look at our Top 10 rankings you will see quite a few familiar faces. The Top teams at the beginning of the season are still standing strong but there has been an influx of some newer teams that have been creating quite a few waves along the way. They have’nt quite reached the highest echelon of the travel ball hierarchy but they are well on their way. Below we highlight teams in each age group that has found great success on the baseball diamond this season. Keep an eye out for these teams because they can flat out play with the best of them.
9U Division
FCTB Titans
Currently classified as a AAA team the FCTB Titans have been on a tear as of late. In their last two tournaments they have outscored their opponents 84-20 both resulting in two tournament victories. Over an 11 game span their defense is allowing a very paltry 2.8 runs per game. Their only loss in USSSA events came back in December when they were beat in a close 9-6 battle with the West Coast Federals. Now that their in-house league has concluded you can be sure you will start seeing a lot more of this team.
MVP Baseball
Coming straight out of the talent rich community of Citrus Heights team MVP is a force to be reckon with. Not quite on par with the Brentwood Blast or Club All-Star but they have made huge strides to close that gap in the last two months. As the season progresses we think they have a legit shot at beating the two tops dogs in the division.
10U Division
Sacramento Capitols

The Sacramento Capitols rise to the top of the 10U heap has been remarkable. Three months ago no body outside of their fan base really knew about the Capitols but that all changed at the Spring Super NIT. The Capitols gave the clubhouse leader in the division (Immortals) a run for their money in the Spring Super NIT. Since then they have been great. The are winners of back-to-back championships and have beat every top team in the division minus the Immortals. They are led by arguably one of the best players in the entire division Daniel Susac.
Almaden Bulldogs
They’re back. After taking a two month break to focus on league (Blossom Valley Pony) play the Bulldogs made huge splash by defeating the Immortals 14-11 in pool play at the Cinco De Mayo Classic. At the Memorial Day Classic they came out in full force and dominated the competition going 5-0 and outscoring their opponents 50-14. Bulldogs are led by their ace Eddie Park. Park is as good as any pitcher in the division and when he is on the hill they are tough to beat.
11U Division
Red Baron Baseball Club
True. They are classified AAA but recently they are playing as well as any team in the entire division. The last three tournaments their combined record is 12-2 and have two championship trophies to prove it.
Davis Jr. Aggies
They have a knack for winning and are extremely well coached. They have some ultra talented players (Tyler Mortenson, Ryan Holgate, Jonah Henrickson Cooper Hjerpe) that could be impact players on any of the big dogs in the division.
12U Division
Cali Mutants
With only one loss on the season (USSSA) the Mutants are a team to be on the watch out for. In their last 4 tournaments they have three 1st place finishes and have outscored their opponents 106-22. They will no doubt be moved to Majors shortly where they belong and we thing they will still find success.
13U Division
Chico Aces Blue
The Aces are currently ranked number two in the Northern California USSSA power rankings compiling an impressive 7-2 record versus like opponents. They have one of the best shorts stops in the entire region Lane Pritchard who holds it down up the middle. The Aces can flat out rake averaging close to eight runs a game.
Bombers Baseball Club
If you like pitching and defense then you will love watching the Bombers (Marin) play. The bombers do all the little things right and will always be right there in the game regardless who they play. Bombers have won the last two tournaments they have entered allowing only three runs per game. The Bombers should make a nice run at a Top 5 ranking by seasons end.
14U Division
LBA Legends
Coach Zuber has his boys dialed in right now. They are winners of six straight tournaments compiling a ridiculous 24-2 record along the way. LBA can rake they are averging close to nine runs per game on their six tournament win streak.
Keep us posted on other teams on the rise. Next issue of teams on the rise will be 7/15/2012. Please LIKE our FB page if you have not currently down so thanks.
